Ferry Lane started in 2019 with a ten-barrel kit, a lease on half an old rope works, and two brewers who kept saying the same thing: the beer we wanted to drink was not being poured anywhere near Stanmere.
Ruth came from a big regional brewery, where she ran the lager tanks. Dan came from home brewing that had, in his words, got badly out of hand. The first year we sold kegs to pubs across town and drank our mistakes so nobody else had to.
The taproom came in 2021, when we admitted the best room in Stanmere for drinking our beer was the one we were already standing in. We put benches between the tanks, hired the people who kept turning up anyway, and opened the doors.
We make six beers. Four stay the same, two change with the season. That is the whole plan.
It still is. No barrel programme, no lab coats, no beer named after a meme. When one of the six can be better, we make it better, put it on the board and tell you what changed.
